Adrien Hendrickx (1959), a native of Ostend, studied graphic design at Sint-Lukas in Brussels and began his career as a commercial illustrator. When a client asked him to create pack shots for a brochure, he took a course – a necessity, as photography was still a protected profession in the 1980s. The course wasn't difficult for Adrien, as he already enjoyed taking pictures just for fun and found photography fascinating. He started working as an advertising photographer, and soon expanded his repertoire to include landscape photography. There can be something so calming about the forcefulness of nature, and Adrien is a master at presenting such paradoxes. His photographs take images the viewer has seen and experienced many times and transform them into something more beautiful, stronger, deeper and more expansive than we remember.
